Working with a Warping Board and Painted Warps

Saturday, November 18th, 10:00am-1:00pm Instructor: Eleni Adkins
Class Fee: $85 Material fee: $30 hand dyed warp, worsted weight, 8 dents per inch, for a total of 80 ends.

This is a class for rigid heddle weavers who would like to learn an alternate method of warping, using a warping board rather than warping directly on the loom. Using a warping board allows you to wind longer warps, to dye warps in desired color order, or to easily mix and match multiple colors or types of yarns. Materials for this class are available at the shop and consist of one hand painted warp in worsted weight, superwash merino. All warps have been hand dyed by the instructor and allow for use of color that can’t be duplicated with commercial yarns. Scarf will measure approximately 10x72” under tension on the loom.

Painting with Yarn: How to “Doodle” Your Way to a Shawl

Saturday, December 2nd, 1:00pm-4:00pm Cost:$35.00 Instructor: Sherri Hruby

We’re doing this one more time!!! Let your inner creative out, or fake it until you make it (the shawl, that is)! Learn this easy way to start a shawl and add to it with short rows that let you “paint” with the colors of your yarn. The result will be curved rows of knitting, deliberate pools of color, and a beautiful one-of-a-kind creation that you’ve made. We’ll start the shawl shape and learn the “doodle knitting” technique you can easily use to create the rest of the shawl in free form. If you’re good at the knit stitch, you can do this! (8 people max; supplies not included)
