Open Knitting

Join us for these Tuesday morning skill building sessions. Each person receives individualized attention on their specific needs. The group will include instruction and comradery as we all learn from each other! (6 people max)

Bring your spinning wheel or drop spindle and spend the afternoon with friends! Experienced spinners will join us to answer questions or give assistance. No pre-registration is required!


Knitting for Beginners

Saturday, September 9th and 23rd, 10:30am-12:00pm Cost: $30.00 Instructor: Michelle Cohen

This is a true beginner class! If you think you’ve caught the knitting bug, then this class is for you! We will cover the very basics of choosing yarn and needles, casting on, the knit stitch and the purl stitch, starting/finishing a row, and other basic questions. The atmosphere will be helpful and no pressure! Mistakes are welcome and important for learning…so there are no dumb mistakes! Participants walk away with a pattern and supplies for their first project. Come early to choose some yarn and supplies if you don’t have them. (6 people max; supplies not included)


Needle Felting Demonstration

If you have been thinking about learning how to needle felt, join us in the shop to see Susan Anderson and her needle felted creations! Susan will be at the back table demonstrating needle felting. She will be available to answer your questions and even give you a chance to try it out! And if you’re hooked (no pun intended), keep your eyes open for our first class coming later in the fall!


Blocking Seminar

Wednesday, September 13th, 5:30pm-7:30pm Cost:$25.00 Instructor: Eleni Adkins

Take the fear out of blocking and learn how to determine the proper blocking method for your project. Join us for light appetizers and beverages, and watch as we demonstrate various blocking techniques, how to identify the right tools for your project, and how to apply them. Blocking kits will be available at a discounted price for students. Kits will include, blocking mats, pins, wires, combs, and a sample of Eucalan. Pre-registration is required, space is limited to 12 participants, as this is an exclusive after-hours event.


Beginning Knitting Series: Making a Hat

For all beginning knitters who are looking to expand their knitting beyond a scarf or a washcloth…this is the class for you! Participants will learn how to cast onto circular needles, how to join their knitting in the round and how to do a decrease to double pointed needles. The hat pattern will be a simple stockinette pattern (with simple variations if desired). (6 people max; supplies not included)


Painting with Yarn: How to “Doodle” Your Way to a Shawl

Saturday, September 23rd, 1:00pm-4:00pm Cost:$35.00 Instructor: Sherri Hruby

We’re doing this one more time!!! Let your inner creative out, or fake it until you make it (the shawl, that is)! Learn this easy way to start a shawl and add to it with short rows that let you “paint” with the colors of your yarn. The result will be curved rows of knitting, deliberate pools of color, and a beautiful one-of-a-kind creation that you’ve made. We’ll start the shawl shape and learn the “doodle knitting” technique you can easily use to create the rest of the shawl in free form. If you’re good at the knit stitch, you can do this! (8 people max; supplies not included)


Two-at-a-Time Magic Loop Socks

Wednesday, October 4th amd 18th, 1:00pm-4:00pm Cost:$50.00 Instructor: Joan Hoffmeyer

Tis the season to learn how to knit socks! In this class, you will learn how to how to work both socks at the same time on a 40” circular needle, and also learn how to make the Fish Lips Kiss heel which does NOT involve gussets or picking up stitches. It uses short rows which make a very nice, comfortable finished heal. (3 participants min, 6 maximum; supplies not included)


Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving

Saturday, October 7th, 9:00am-4:00pm (Lunch break included) Cost: $165.00 (loom & supplies not included) Instructor: Eleni Adkins

Learn all about Rigid Heddle Weaving including: all parts of the loom, how to set up the loom correctly, how to do weaving math, and general weaving terminology. Eleni will help you warp your loom and experiment with weft color choices, getting you on your way to creating a beautiful scarf (or two) with fringe. (6 people maximum per class)


Crochet Amigurumi

Joan will be teaching us how to make an amigurumi doll using crochet. Amigurumi is a term that covers the beautiful and fun trend of crocheting and knitting stuffed animals, people or even inanimate objects. The pattern promises to be super adorable! (6 people maximum; supplies not included)


Beginning Knitting Series: How to Knit a Shawl

Thursday, October 26th, 5:00pm-7:00pm Cost: $25.00 Instructor: Michelle Cohen

For the second class of our Beginning Knitting Series (BKS), participants will learn how to knit the “Hitchhiker” shawl. This is an asymmetrical shawl, that starts with just a few stitches and grows as you knit. The class will teach how to “knit in the front & back” of a stitch for an increase, how to bind off to make points, how to make lace holes, and how to add beads to your work. (6 people maximum; supplies not included)


Working with a Warping Board and Painted Warps

Saturday, November 18th, 10:00am-1:00pm Instructor: Eleni Adkins
Class Fee: $85 Material fee: $30 hand dyed warp, worsted weight, 8 dents per inch, for a total of 80 ends.

This is a class for rigid heddle weavers who would like to learn an alternate method of warping, using a warping board rather than warping directly on the loom. Using a warping board allows you to wind longer warps, to dye warps in desired color order, or to easily mix and match multiple colors or types of yarns. Materials for this class are available at the shop and consist of one hand painted warp in worsted weight, superwash merino. All warps have been hand dyed by the instructor and allow for use of color that can’t be duplicated with commercial yarns. Scarf will measure approximately 10x72” under tension on the loom.
